Elected Officials
All City of Topeka elected officials serve four-year terms. Elections for City Council members are staggered, with five Council members elected at one time and four Council members elected two years later. There is no limit on the number of terms for elected officials. The annual salary for a member of the Council is $20,000 and the annual salary for Office of the Mayor is $40,000.

June 3 Deadline to file to run for office
July 16 Last Day to Register to Vote
July 17 Advance ballots can begin to be mailed
July 22 Advance Voting Begins in election office
August 5 Noon deadline for advance voting in the election office
August 6 Primary Election - polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
October 15 Last day to register to vote
October 16 Advance Voting ballots can be mailed
October 21 Advance voting begins in the election office
November 4 Noon deadline for advance voting in the election office
November 5 General Election
